Chris Hammond is Senior Vice President, Consumer Lending Group, Corporate Communications Strategic Programs and Social Media for Wells Fargo & Company, one of America’s leading community banks and mortgage company.
In his role, Chris is responsible for strategic development and implementation of communications initiatives supporting the company’s Leading the Way Home Program, including the NeighborhoodLIFT program, CityLIFT program, Home Preservation Workshops, and the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation.
A California native and 14-year veteran of the company, Chris assumed his current role in 2010. From 2002-2010, he led communications initiatives in the San Francisco Bay, Greater Bay Area, Central, and Northern California communities for Wells Fargo. In his role, he managed media relations and internal communications in Wells Fargo’s headquarter community where the company has been consistently recognized as the region’s top corporate giver among financial services companies and among the region’s best places to work.
Chris began his career with Wells Fargo in 1999 as Wells Fargo’s Consumer Credit Group communications manager. Prior to joining Wells Fargo he worked in the public relations industry primarily at Ketchum Public Relations where he supported a number of household brand name accounts including Visa, Levi Strauss & Co., Clorox and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Since 2006, he has also served on the PR News editorial advisory board.
Chris is actively involved in the community. He served with Wells Fargo’s Bay Area Community Support and United Way Campaign board as communications chair from 2002-2010. He also served on the board of governors with Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco from 2004-2009.
Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in management of human resources from California State University, Chico and was inducted into the university’s journalism school Hall of Fame in 2009.
